Singers Cheer Chen and Crowd Lu announced as 22nd 30 Hour Famine Ambassadors(05/19/11)

World Vision Taiwan proudly announces that popular recording artists Cheer Chen and Crowd Lu will be the 22nd 30 Hour Famine ambassadors this year. In early June, they will visit Swaziland to raise awareness on the effects of climate change, the ongoing food crisis, and how the people of Taiwan can respond to help children and communities in need.
Cheer and Crowd will also appear at the 30 Hour Famine Hero Rally on July 30-31 and fast for 30 hours with the rally participants.
This year’s 30 Hour Famine theme – “Treasure the Earth; Preserve Taiwan’s Beauty for another 100 Years” - is based on the 100th birthday of the Republic of China, and the theme’s purpose is to motivate the people of Taiwan to care for the natural surroundings this earth and island are blessed with.
Known for being friendly to the environment, Cheer and Crowd, both shared through videos posted online how they try to make a difference every day.
“I take MRT, walk staircases, bring reusable bags and cups with me, separate garbage into different kinds of recycling categories, turn off lights when leaving and set my air conditioner at 26 degree,” said Cheer.
“I ride my bicycle to work and bring environmental tableware with me. These are good ways to help save energy and decrease carbon,” said Crowd.
Cheer and Crowd call on the public to take action to preserve Taiwan’s beauty by signing up for DIY Famine or the 30 Hour Famine Hero Rally on July 30-31.
Since the launch of this year’s campaign in January, the number of participants for the DIY Famine so far is on pace to break previous attendance records. As of May 10, 60,000 people (over 300 groups) have signed up for the DIY Famine and a total of 38,815 participants have completed the DIY Famine.
