International Ministry

World Vision Taiwan has started supporting the international ministry of World Vision since 1990 when it launched its 30 Hour Famine activity. World Vision Taiwan in 2006 supported a total of 80,000 disadvantaged children in 50 locations, covering 28 countries around the world on its child sponsorship program.

In 2006, World Vision Taiwan assisted 24 non-sponsored programs in 15 countries around the world, mostly in five major sectors, namely, education, health, hygiene, children in especially difficult circumstances, and children orphaned by AIDS.

The emergency relief program assisted with 41 emergency relief projects in 26 partnership countries around the world. Examples of the types of assistance provided included those in relation to food shortages, children in conflicts, natural disasters and other emergency relief operations. During the year, World Vision Taiwan made arrangements with the government for food aid to be sent to Laos, Swaziland, and Lesotho, representing a donation of NT$300 million. It also completed its emergency relief project in relation to the earthquake in Indonesia and flood and volcano eruption relief in Philippines.

At the same time, the Department of International Ministry also completed its monitoring of the programs in order to strengthen the quality of field operations in different countries.

In 2006, program officers completed field monitoring trips in the regions of Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Areas on the project level like personnel, finance, sponsor relations, administration were monitored. They also visited the national office in each country to monitor their management and strategies. By means of interviewing and meetings with relevant personnel, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders, project impact was observed.
